Sassy & Honest – Gaming Culture Depiction in Swiss Youth TV Programmes in the 1990s
Continuing the analyses of the last year's presentation, this contribution focuses on Swiss TV shows of the 1990s featuring games and game culture. Here, it becomes evident how the establishment of games as the new leisure media is mirrored by the content of TV shows. Interestingly, it is foremost TV shows for teenagers and young people that take up on this new media phenomenon: The TV shows are called “Schlips” and “Oops”, the latter, for example, advertised as “a youth program that presents itself as sassy, honest and committed”.
